Job Title: Field Technician

Universal Engineering Sciences is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Technician to join our team. As a Field Technician, you will be responsible for conducting field tests and inspections to ensure the quality and safety of construction materials and geotechnical engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct field tests and inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications and company policies
  • Operate testing equipment and maintain accurate records of test results
  • Communicate with project teams and stakeholders to ensure timely and effective project delivery
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless project execution
  • Perform geotechnical field work, including working with auger piles, vibro replacement, and vibro compaction techniques
  • Conduct compaction grouting operations and ensure effective soil stabilization during projects
  • Assist in demucking operations to remove unsuitable soil and prepare ground for construction
  • Work with helical piles and other deep foundation systems
  • Monitor and manage vibration during construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards and minimizing impact to surrounding structures
Requirements:
  • Valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida's Jessica Lunsford Act
  • Ability to read and write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, and the ability to learn Field Data Collection (FDC)/Inspector Gadget to input data and prepare reports
  • Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form
  • Experience related to earthwork and foundation work
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • ACI Level I Certification
  • Earthworks Construction Inspection Certification - Level I and II
