Aerial Lift Arborist

Xylem I LLC seeks a skilled Aerial Lift Arborist to join our team.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for trimming, pruning, and removing trees with the aid of a bucket truck or other equipment or tools. This role requires previous experience operating a bucket truck and an active driver's license.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with safe practices and rules in daily operations.
• Prepare trucks and materials needed for each day under the direction of the General Foreperson.
• Perform tree maintenance activities as directed by the General Foreperson.
• Clear and trim trees and brush away from utility lines; remove branches and tree material.
• Clean up and dispose of all debris.
• Maintain and keep track of all tools and equipment used in daily operations.
• Continuously observe and practice climbing and tree maintenance skills to improve professional abilities.
• Be ready to assist other crew members in all aspects of daily activities.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.

Requirements

Prior experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries is preferred. Previous aerial lift experience is also preferred.

A High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Essential Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrate a working knowledge of knots, ropes, and rigging devices used in tree trimming and removal operations.
• Identify tree species.
• Familiarize yourself with electrical hazards and appropriate operating procedures when near electrical conductors.
• Work at considerable heights under varying and adverse weather conditions.
• Posess physical strength, agility, good balance, depth perception, and ability to hear verbal instructions from a distance.
• Obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR.
• Administer emergency rescue techniques, including tree rescue and first aid.
• Remove yourself quickly from potential danger areas.
• Weare necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Travel out of town for storm restoration work when needed.
