Job Responsibilities and QualificationsIn collaboration with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals, the Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse is accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating treatment plans while achieving the objectives of the nursing department. This role is crucial within the interdependent team, responsible for ensuring positive patient and departmental outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor cardiac and critical vital signs, identifying any changes to facilitate timely interventions in life-threatening situations.
- Respond to emergency situations within the facility, initiating protocols and cardiac monitoring.
- Manage patient flow efficiently, including screening, preparation for examinations, providing general nursing care, and coordinating tests and admissions.
- Educate patients and families regarding medications and treatment plans.
- Maintain and review patient records, including documenting tests and examination results.
- Administer medications as per physician orders.
- Conduct daily checks of rooms for necessary supplies.
- Handle incoming calls, which may include triage when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program; an Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher is required.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice or an active Compact/Multi-State RN license.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross is required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from AHA or American Red Cross is preferred and must be obtained within six months of hire/transfer.
- Prior experience as an acute care Registered Nurse is preferred.
