Job Summary

The Dual Credit Liaison will work collaboratively with the Office of Dual Credit Programs and the Port Arthur Independent School District schools, school personnel, faculty, staff, and students to support dual credit programs. This role requires a strong understanding of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and career development. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational, communication, and personal skills, with the ability to provide quality instructions to students about their behavior. Knowledge of career opportunities and postsecondary options is also required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guide individuals and groups of students to develop career and postsecondary education plans.
  • Counsel students about needs and concerns, realistic and achievable career goals, and academic advising.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant stakeholders to enhance the liaison's work with students.
  • Promote dual credit opportunities, maintain communication between relevant staff, and use an effective referral process to assist students to use special programs and services.
  • Track student progress, grades, and attendance, and intervene as needed.
  • Plan and implement dual credit counseling/coaching/mentoring programs to support the goals of the dual credit program.
  • Develop and coordinate a plan for continuous program improvement and evaluation. Use findings to improve the program.
  • Compile, maintain, and file required reports, records regarding services as required. Submit records and reports to the Director of Dual Credit Programs.
  • Comply with the policies established by federal and State law, TSUS policy, THECB policy, TEA policy, and LSCPA Policies and Procedures.
  • Exhibit ethical, legal, and professional standards and behavior.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in counseling, valid Texas Counseling Certificate, and valid driver's license.
  • Three years of K-12 teaching and/or counseling services.

Normal office working environment.

Salary and Benefits

$43,000; plus excellent benefits.
