About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Administrator to join our team at the University of Georgia. As a key member of our Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS) team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our mission-critical network systems and applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and recommend network systems and applications to meet the needs of our users.
  • Implement and manage enterprise network services, including firewalls, intrusion prevention/detection systems, and network monitoring tools.
  • Perform long-range capacity planning to ensure our network can support projected volumes and types of solutions.
  • Work with other departments to implement and support critical network services.
  • Monitor and maintain network and security systems, including patching, backups, and recovery operations.
  • Investigate and resolve network faults, including routing, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs.
  • Provide detailed planning and documentation for assigned tasks, including work breakdowns, timelines, and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate with Information Security and respond to UGA IT Security incidents.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A baccalaureate degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with configuring networking equipment, including switches and routers.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet and IP networking, including TCP and UDP.
  • Familiarity with LAN/WAN L2/L3 protocols.
  • Experience with wireless networking, including controller-based lightweight architectures.
  • Familiarity with firewalls and VPNs.
  • Experience with DHCP, IPAM, and DNS.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
