Kennel Assistant

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Kennel Assistant to join our team at Rochelle Veterinary Hospital.

The Kennel Assistant provides daily care, feeding, and exercise of boarding and hospitalized animals. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of proper animal restraint techniques, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Maintain and uphold the core values and mission statement of Rochelle Veterinary Hospital.
• Provide compassionate care to boarding pets and hospitalized patients.
• Check-in animals for boarding, interact with owners, and record all information on boarding forms.
• Feed and water animals according to schedules, administer medications, and monitor boarding and hospitalized pets.
• Record medication instructions, walk through the kennel area regularly, and check for any abnormal activity.
• Report abnormal activity to doctors and technicians, pull patient medical records, and recognize emergency situations.
• Supervise animals in the yard, perform TLC play times or walks, and clean and disinfect cages, runs, and yard as needed.

• Confidence around animals and pets.
• Knowledge of proper animal restraint techniques.
• Knowledge of infectious diseases and how to control and prevent their spread.
• Ability to perform duties proficiently, including reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
