Job Summary

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is a key member of our healthcare team, providing high-quality anesthesia care to patients. As a CRNA, you will be responsible for delivering safe and effective anesthesia services, working closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Perform pre-anesthetic assessments and evaluations, including requesting consultations and diagnostic studies.
  • Develop and implement anesthetic plans, selecting and administering medications and fluids as needed.
  • Initiate anesthesia techniques, including general, regional, local, and sedation anesthesia.
  • Select and apply invasive and non-invasive monitoring modalities to evaluate patient physical condition.
  • Manage regional anesthesia techniques, including subarachnoid and epidural blocks, plexus, major and peripheral nerve blocks, intravenous regional anesthesia, trans-tracheal, topical, and local infiltration blocks.
  • Prepare and administer anesthetics, adjuvant and accessory drugs, and fluids necessary to manage anesthesia.
  • Manage patient airway and pulmonary status using current practice modalities.
  • Facilitate emergence and recovery from anesthesia, selecting and administering medications, fluids, and ventilator support as needed.
  • Provide thorough transition of care to post-surgical care providers.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a nurse anesthesia program fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs and recognized by the boards of nursing and medicine.
  • Current Virginia licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current Virginia licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in Anesthesia.
  • Current NBCRNA certification as a Nurse Anesthetist.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by the state of Virginia.
