The Financial Planning and Analysis (FPA) Analyst plays a crucial role within the KIPP NYC Finance Team. This position is well-suited for individuals who possess strong analytical abilities along with excellent organizational and communication skills. The FPA Analyst will engage in financial modeling, report generation, and comprehensive financial analysis as part of the FPA team.
The FPA Analyst will also provide support to school and program budget managers, assisting them with financial insights and protocols to inform their budgeting decisions. This role is essential for fostering effective financial management across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:Financial Reporting:
- Assist the Chief Financial Officer in preparing reports for schools and regional leadership, the KIPP NYC Board of Directors, donors, financing partners, and regulatory bodies.
- Develop monthly financial and metrics reports for KIPP NYC schools and programs, which will be utilized in presentations to the Board of Directors.
- Create quarterly and ad hoc financial reporting packages for board meetings and regulatory compliance.
- Facilitate regular meetings with school and team budget managers, delivering accurate analysis and exceptional customer service.
- Act as a liaison among Finance, Development, and Real Estate teams for donor and financial partner reporting by generating budget and expenditure reports.
- Collaborate with a subset of school and program budget managers to formulate annual budgets.
- Establish key financial parameters and budgeting guidelines tailored to each school or program.
- Oversee the annual setup of budgeting and reporting software.
- Manage the complete budget cycle for assigned schools and/or programs, ensuring the delivery of accurate budgets.
- Maintain an ongoing financial forecast for schools and programs, supporting the Chief Financial Officer in long-term financial modeling.
- A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in finance or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and data management, including proficiency in building and maintaining complex financial models.
- Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and financial statement analysis.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, with a strong aptitude for learning new software.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- A demonstrated commitment to the KIPP mission of providing high-quality public education and promoting social justice.
