Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Certified Nurse First Assistant (CNFA) in the Operating Room at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a CNFA, you will provide critical support to surgeons and other healthcare professionals during surgical procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and other healthcare professionals during surgical procedures, including preparing patients for surgery, maintaining a sterile environment, and providing hemostasis and wound closure.
  • Participate in preoperative assessment and planning for selected surgical patients, collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure seamless care.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned, including handling specimens and cultures, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare providers to facilitate communication regarding patient care plans.
  • Participate in SRMC initiatives, such as lean, and actively engage in safety measures, including Time Out.
Requirements
  • 2 years of directly related experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification within 6 months.
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification.
  • First Assist Certification.
  • Active RN licensure in New Mexico or reciprocal agreement.
Working Conditions

This role may require travel to various work sites and may involve physical risk/injuries due to combative patients.
