Job Opportunity

University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center is seeking a certified athletic trainer to join our sports medicine outreach team.

The primary placement for this position will be at a school, where the athletic trainer will serve middle and upper school student athletes participating in the athletics program.

The athletic trainer will provide evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, development, and implementation of prevention programs, as well as practice and game coverage. They will also serve as a liaison between parents, athletes, coaches, administrators, and supervising team physicians from University of Maryland Towson Orthopaedic Associates.

The qualified applicant will be responsible for overseeing and safeguarding injury records and other protected health information, injury tracking, assorted monthly reports, supply purchasing and inventory, budget development and monitoring.

As a member of the Towson Sports Medicine clinical staff, the applicant will be required to attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and provide other contractual athletic training services assigned by manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver athletic training services through evaluation of patient needs, goal determination, and development of treatment plans according to the principles and practices of athletic training.
  • Perform direct athletic training services to patients in accordance with generally accepted athletic training standards, State of Maryland Athletic Training Practice Act, code of ethics, and departmental procedures.
  • Record patient evaluations, re-evaluations, and care provided in the medical record, in accordance with departmental documentation standards.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities and suggest areas for improvement to colleagues in a tactful and considerate manner.
  • Assume responsibility to resolve or report clinical and operational issues to department leadership for resolution.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Licensed Athletic Trainer in the state of Maryland.
  • Valid Evaluation & Treatment Protocol.
  • Current ACLS or BCLS certification.
