Job Title: Lead Cashier

At Mother's Market, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Cashier to join our team. As a Lead Cashier, you will be responsible for supervising cashiers, ensuring smooth running operations, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise cashiers and ensure they are meeting performance expectations
  • Run breaks, handle returns, and make change
  • Face products at the front of the store and assist other departments as needed
  • Fill open shifts as needed by cross-training, working in other departments, and/or calling in staff to help
  • Utilize great judgment in customer and employee situations and handle them in a calm and professional manner
  • Process returns in a courteous and professional manner
  • Provide excellent customer service and set an example for cashiers
  • Bag groceries with sensitivity to customer needs
  • Keep the register station and computer clean, dry, and free of dust
  • Stock and face product, checking prices for consistency with shelf labels, and marking labels with blue chips if inconsistencies are found
  • Maintain awareness of safety and security
  • Sweep, put away go-backs, walk the store for cleanliness, count, and pull-in/lock carts
  • Assist other employees as needed
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of High School Diploma or G.E.D. certificate
  • Prior experience as a cashier
  • Excellent math skills
  • Verbal proficiency in the English language and ability to read and write at an advanced level
  • Leadership skills
  • Ability to model excellent customer service and hold staff accountable
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to treat customers with respect in a warm and friendly manner
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and relate product knowledge to customers
  • Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to assist customers promptly and communicate with leadership
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Lift grocery, bulk, produce items up to 50lbs. 100 times per day 6-12 inches
  • Carry from cart or dolly to shelves, typically less than 3 ft.
  • Push/Pull carts and dolly, electric pallet jack
Special Requirements:
  • Ability to work various shifts as needed, including nights and weekends
