POSITION OVERVIEW: The Clinical Technology Engineer plays a crucial role in the innovation, assessment, and upkeep of medical devices and systems. This position is essential to ensure that all medical apparatus utilized within the healthcare facility is secure, dependable, and operating at peak performance. The engineer collaborates with department heads and healthcare professionals to confirm that all technological resources enhance patient treatment and adhere to regulatory guidelines. Reports to the Facilities Director. Exempt Position.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Maintenance and Repair of Equipment: Conduct routine evaluations, maintenance, and repairs of medical devices including MRI machines, X-ray systems, hospital beds, and ventilators. Diagnose and rectify technical problems swiftly to reduce equipment downtime. Adjust equipment to guarantee precision and dependability.Installation and Testing of Equipment: Set up new medical devices ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and healthcare facility standards. Execute performance evaluations and validation of equipment to confirm adherence to safety regulations.Collaboration and Support: Partner closely with department leaders and healthcare staff to comprehend their requirements and provide training on the safe operation of medical devices. Collaborate with fellow engineers and IT personnel to integrate medical devices with healthcare information systems.Compliance with Regulations: Ensure that all medical equipment meets local, state, and federal regulations, including FDA standards. Maintain thorough documentation for equipment inventory and history, encompassing repairs, maintenance, and upgrades.Research and Development: Keep abreast of the latest advancements in biomedical engineering and medical technology. Engage in research initiatives aimed at developing new medical devices or enhancing existing ones.Safety and Quality Assurance: Implement safety measures to avert accidents and equipment failures. Conduct quality assurance assessments and audits to uphold high standards of patient care.Work Schedule Requirements:This role necessitates the employee's presence in the clinics typically from 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday. Exempt employees are expected to be available as needed and should anticipate taking calls and working even when not onsite.QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred).Relevant certification (e.g., Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician - CBET) is required within one year from the date of hire.Strong knowledge of medical device regulations and standards.Experience with medical device software, hardware, and network systems.Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.Effective communication skills with medical professionals and technical staff.Familiarity with hospital safety protocols and procedures.Experience:
A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a hospital or healthcare environment is preferred.Experience with specific medical devices or systems utilized in the healthcare facility (e.g., imaging equipment, monitoring systems).FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS:
Functional Job Requirements:
Job requirements include, but are not limited to: sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting, and reaching. Requires good finger dexterity and repetitive motions with hands and fingers. Requires the ability to have good vision and hearing. Pushing and pulling equipment may be necessary.
