Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Placement Specialist to join our team at Kids Central. As a key member of our child welfare team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely and accurate intake, assessment, and coordination of out-of-home care for children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Coordination: Ensure children receive timely, accurate, and complete assessments to match them with the most suitable placement settings.
  • Service Authorization: Verify that all services identified by the Protective Investigator and/or Case Manager are appropriate and delivered, authorizing initial services and requests.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Assist the Protective Investigator and/or Case Manager in developing initial plans of action, making referrals based on established criteria and standards.
  • Team Participation: Routinely attend and participate in Children Medical Assessment Team (CMAT), disruption, and multi-disciplinary staffing's.
  • Placement Support: Assist with the integration and stabilization of children into therapeutic care, medical care, and children with disabilities.
  • Liaison and Support: Act as a liaison between foster parents, case management agencies, and Department of Children and Families staff to ensure appropriate placements are maintained.
  • Crisis Management: Communicate, counsel, and de-escalate crisis calls from foster parents, including arranging for respite care and resolving foster parent payment issues.
  • Reporting and Data Entry: Complete over capacity waivers, including medical, physical, and/or mental health needs of the child, and ensure accurate and timely placement data information is entered into FSFN for proper payment to foster homes and group homes.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Identify additional placement capacity needs, provide routine overnight coverage, and occasional weekend coverage in the placement of children.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Two years of child welfare experience and/or a Bachelor's degree in human services, behavioral health, or a related field from an accredited institution, and one year of experience in human services or child welfare.
  • Certifications and Clearances: Certification as a Child Protective Professional preferred, current Background Clearance Screening Letter, and a valid Florida driver's license.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to meet Organizational Required Competency standards, knowledge of the child welfare system, excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively, and ability to multi-task and problem-solve.
Work Environment and Physical Demands

This job regularly operates in a professional office environment, and the employee is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds.
