Position Overview

The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant plays a vital role in delivering occupational therapy services in accordance with relevant laws and regulations. This position adheres to the policies set forth by Your Tailor Made Senior Services. Under the guidance of an occupational therapist, the assistant may contribute to the formulation of treatment plans, execute routine tasks, document treatment progress, and adjust specific therapies based on patient needs.

Supervisory Duties

No supervisory responsibilities are associated with this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct patient care that aligns with departmental and professional standards, including patient evaluation, assistance in developing therapy plans, treatment execution, family training, and discharge planning.
  • Assess, recommend, and educate patients on the use of prosthetic and supportive devices as necessary.
  • Complete all required documentation for patient care, including assessments, care plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and billing for services rendered. Documentation must accurately reflect patient status and progress.
  • Manage and maintain an assigned patient caseload in accordance with departmental productivity benchmarks.
  • Notify supervisors of any issues related to patient care delivery or caseload management.
  • Ensure that all documentation and billing processes are timely, precise, and comprehensive, including evaluations, re-certifications, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Identify the need for equipment repairs or upgrades to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in ongoing training and in-service education.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Exceptional customer service and patient care abilities.
  • Fundamental knowledge of occupational therapy practices and medical terminology.
Educational Background
  • Completion of an associate degree or certification from an accredited occupational therapy program, including coursework in anatomy, physiology, psychology, and clinical practice.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift, position, push, and transfer patients as needed.
  • Frequent movements including reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
