Position Overview

The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (LD RN) plays a crucial role in providing care to women during the labor and childbirth process. This includes monitoring both the mother and the newborn, offering guidance to mothers, and assisting healthcare providers. LD RNs are responsible for preparing expectant mothers and their families for the various stages of childbirth and providing support with breastfeeding post-delivery.

In addition to supporting women throughout labor, LD RNs also care for those facing complications during pregnancy and assist in surgical procedures such as cesarean sections. They may work in diverse environments, including hospital delivery rooms, medical offices, birthing centers, and community health clinics. Depending on patient volume, LD RNs may also be required to assist in Postpartum or Mother-Baby units.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN): 4-Year Degree
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN): 2-Year Degree
  • Completion of an ADN or BSN program and successful passage of the NCLEX examination is necessary for RN licensure.
  • Active state nursing license is required for practice.
  • Certification in NRP and AWHONN may be required.

Per Diem shifts are available, and recent experience in the field is essential.
