Position Overview: The Code Compliance Supervisor is responsible for the effective management and oversight of the Code Enforcement Division. This role ensures that inspections are conducted in accordance with applicable laws and municipal regulations. The Supervisor plays a key role in preparing cases for the Code Enforcement Board and provides testimony as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and enforce local, state, and federal regulations, initiating corrective actions for any violations.
  • Address complaints and inquiries regarding code enforcement, offering technical assistance to citizens and team members.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of properties to ensure compliance with established codes, including re-inspections as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of property ownership and monitor vacant properties for security concerns.
  • Prepare documentation and reports related to code violations, ensuring proper distribution of violation notices.
  • Oversee housing inspections for rental properties, ensuring compliance with housing standards and addressing maintenance issues.
  • Facilitate the Code Enforcement Board meetings, ensuring all cases are properly prepared and presented.
  • Engage with community members during neighborhood meetings to foster collaboration and understanding.
  • Collaborate with city officials and other agencies to enforce compliance and resolve disputes.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree along with significant experience in code enforcement and property inspections. A minimum of two years in a supervisory role is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of code enforcement principles and practices.
  • Ability to conduct inspections and make sound judgments based on findings.
  • Proficiency in using various software applications for reporting and documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with the public and other stakeholders.
