Department Overview
The Interdisciplinary Engineering (IDE) program within the Davidson College of Engineering provides a unique educational pathway through its B.S. in Interdisciplinary Engineering and M.S. in Engineering degrees. These offerings enable students to engage in a flexible curriculum that is distinctly interdisciplinary, setting it apart from other engineering disciplines available in the college. Additionally, the IDE program supports the College of Engineering's writing courses and the foundational Introduction to Engineering course required for all undergraduate students.
Key Responsibilities
Lecturers are expected to:
- Deliver courses with effectiveness and maintain designated office hours as per University guidelines.
- Collaborate with the department in the peer-review process.
- Utilize the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) for organizing all classes, ensuring that all students have access to a unified platform for their educational needs.
Specifically, lecturers should:
- Recognize and address the diverse needs of a varied student population, incorporating inclusive teaching materials and strategies.
- Ensure all classes are conducted as scheduled throughout the semester, regardless of the mode of delivery (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).
Qualifications Required
- A PhD, Master's degree, or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of substantial and relevant professional experience in a STEM field.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the discipline's subject matter.
- Demonstrated satisfactory performance in prior academic endeavors.
- Applicants should exhibit an understanding of and sensitivity to the educational aspirations of a multicultural student body, gained through cross-cultural experiences.
Compensation Details
Salary and compensation will be determined based on qualifications and experience. For more information regarding salary placement, please refer to the relevant University policy.
Anticipated starting salary ranges are as follows:
L-A / Range 2 - $5007 - $5675
L-B / Range 3 - $5925 - $7125
L-C / Range 4 - $6500 - $8982
L-D / Range 5 - $8184 - $9854
Note: The above salary ranges represent the anticipated monthly compensation for full-time academic year faculty, with part-time rates adjusted accordingly.
