Position Overview:

Colliers Engineering & Design is in search of a Project Accounting Manager to become a vital part of our team. This role will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations throughout the project lifecycle, from initiation to completion, in partnership with project managers, division leaders, and accounting personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage revenue recognition for the project portfolio.
  • Prepare monthly and ad hoc financial reports and analyses for project managers and division leadership.
  • Investigate and document billing and revenue discrepancies, assisting project managers in resolving issues.
  • Monitor the timeliness of billing for assigned divisions and follow up with project managers on collections.
  • Assist in the coordination and reporting for audits.
  • Ensure the proposed setup of large or complex projects aligns with contractual agreements.
  • Review and provide feedback on complex draft invoices for project managers.
  • Supervise assigned billing and project accounting staff, focusing on their development and engagement.
  • Deliver training to billing/project accounting staff, project managers, and administrative support staff across the organization.
  • Undertake additional accounting tasks or special projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • Experience: 7-10+ years in a relevant field.
  • Experience with percentage of completion (POC) and revenue recognition is preferred.
  • Experience in the AEC industry is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to manage a team of 5 or more is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with BST software is a plus.
  • Experience in billing for federal, state, and county projects is beneficial.
  • Mid-level to advanced proficiency in Excel is required.
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
