Job Description

The Residential Counselor position at BAMSI involves providing supportive care and guidance to individuals with developmental and physical disabilities in a home environment. Key responsibilities include assisting individuals with personal care tasks, supporting daily living activities, and facilitating community relationships and friendships. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and patience, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with individuals using their preferred methods and language.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist individuals with personal care tasks, including toileting, showering/bathing, grooming, and mobility assistance
  • Support daily living activities, such as cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene
  • Facilitate community relationships and friendships through outings and activities
  • Use Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) practices to create a supportive environment
  • Communicate effectively with individuals, using preferred methods and language

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of theories and methods for working with individuals with developmental and physical disabilities
  • Ability to conduct and interpret assessments and medical treatments
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
