Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Animal Care Specialist to join our team at the City of Corpus Christi. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for providing top-notch care and services to the animals in our shelter.

Responsibilities
  • Provide daily care and maintenance of animal enclosures, including cleaning, sanitizing, and ensuring the health and well-being of the animals.
  • Assist with animal intake, adoption, and rehabilitation processes.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with the public, including animal owners, adopters, and the general public.
  • Participate in animal training and socialization programs to enhance the adoptability of shelter animals.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure the efficient operation of the shelter.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission and goals of the shelter.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire.
  • Euthanasia Certification (DSHS) within one (1) year of hire.
  • Vaccination Certification (in-house training).
  • Microchip Certification (in-house training).
  • Defensive Driving Certification (City training).
