Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Engineer to join our team at PQ, a leading global provider of silicates, silicas, and derivative products. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure that all plant operations are conducted in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, and that all equipment is properly maintained and operated.
  • Process Optimization: Direct operators to optimize product quality and quantity, and to utilize personnel and equipment effectively.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical assistance and instructions to correct off-standard and emergency conditions, and to ensure that all equipment is properly operated and maintained.
  • Leadership and Teamwork: Encourage and implement a teamwork environment, and demonstrate health, safety, and environmental leadership and commitment to Responsible Care.
  • Continuous Improvement: Utilize continuous improvement techniques to move safety, quality, and production to levels at or above the goals set by the plant, and to propose methods to optimize raw material ordering processes.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate technical discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum of two to five years of experience in the chemical industry in a manufacturing environment, with experience in a Union environment.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety principles, working knowledge of management systems such as ISO 9001 and RC 14001, and computer skills such as Microsoft Office and SAP.
Working Conditions
  • Work Schedule: Customary work hours are 7 am – 4 pm, 5 days per week, with availability on nights and weekends for emergency situations.
