Position Overview:
The Senior Project Engineer will play a pivotal role in spearheading CEI services for various governmental clients, including State, County, and Municipal entities. This position entails overseeing construction contract management and may involve serving as the primary Engineer for multiple construction initiatives. The individual will supervise team members and cultivate relationships with other CEI consultants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate all aspects of field representation on large-scale, intricate projects, exercising initiative and independent judgment to resolve work-related challenges.
- Lead specialized construction engineering administration and inspection programs, ensuring adherence to GDOT standards.
- Support project acquisition efforts, manage work, and supervise a construction management team.
- Recruit, train, and develop project staff.
- Organize and plan the workflow of team members and subordinates.
- Review and develop policies, methods, and procedures related to complex construction projects.
- Ensure the accurate preparation and maintenance of project records in compliance with GDOT protocols, including daily inspection reports and monthly progress updates.
- Facilitate project meetings and assist in the creation of meeting documentation.
- Collaborate with subconsultants and their teams assigned to projects.
- Evaluate contractor schedules for compliance with project requirements and monitor progress against approved timelines.
- Interpret project plans and specifications for contractors, addressing any deviations from established construction procedures.
- Assess drawings and specifications for constructability.
- Review detailed records of contractor operations, including manpower and construction methods.
- Communicate project issues to clients and provide actionable recommendations.
- Engage proactively with Project Managers and clients to address routine project management concerns.
- Interface with project managers, contractors, and inspection teams regarding contract plans, daily construction activities, and contractor submissions.
- Utilize Client Relationship Management (CRM) tools to accurately track business opportunities.
- Take charge of proposal management for lead pursuits, ensuring thorough preliminary and final reviews.
- Participate in marketing initiatives, providing timely updates on resumes and project descriptions.
- Ensure the prompt completion of time sheets and expense reports for self and team members.
- Actively pursue personal career development through feedback and skill enhancement opportunities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and registration as a Professional Engineer in Georgia (or eligibility for registration within six months).
- Must possess or be able to obtain within six months the following certifications: CTQP Quality Control Manager, FDOT Advanced MOT, and Critical Structures Construction Issues.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Georgia Professional Engineer (PE) License.
