The Adjunct Instructor for Culinary Arts and Hospitality reports directly to the Chair of Business and Industrial technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating activities and directing training of students, instructing students in preparing and cooking foods in a commercial kitchen, and supporting the mission of LSCPA. The position requires a strong background in culinary arts and hospitality, with experience in teaching and leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach day, evening, and/or online classes and labs
  • Plan and organize quality instruction to maximize student learning
  • Develop, update, and post course syllabi in a timely manner
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Maintain required office hours
  • Interact with students, faculty, and staff members in a professional manner
  • Oversee equipment set up and maintenance
  • Efficiently present information and respond to information/comments from vendors, suppliers, students, and employees
  • Working knowledge of various computer software programs, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, and e-mail

Requirements:

  • Associate of Applied Science degree in Culinary Arts or closely related field
  • Three years culinary experience
  • At least one year of leadership/supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts or closely related field
  • Five years culinary experience
  • Two years of leadership/supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of purchasing, ordering, receiving, and inventory procedures

Salary: Depend on course load

Work Hours: Teaching assignment may include day and evening classes
