We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Charge Registered Nurse to join our team at Elev8 Center New York LLC. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and leadership to our team of dedicated professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and evaluate nursing staff to ensure high-quality patient care and adherence to facility policies and regulations.
- Assess and respond to changes in patient conditions, documenting and reporting such changes to ensure prompt response to patient needs.
- Provide medical monitoring of detoxification and utilize protocols as ordered by physicians.
- Assess the acuity of patients and bring concerns to the attention of the Nursing Supervisor or Administrator on Call.
- Conduct and/or participate in admissions, discharges, and transfers, and orientation as necessary and in accordance with program protocols.
- Attend daily discharge meetings and weekly leadership meetings.
- Monitor vital signs and assess withdrawal signs and symptoms per protocol.
- Administer routine and PRN medications according to the nursing standards of care.
- Perform duties of the medication nurse as assigned.
- Communicate with physicians, transcribe orders, maintain controlled medication counts, and document to maintain accurate patient records.
- Monitor and treat patients who have a concomitant substance use/medical/psychiatric illness.
- Document pertinent information in accordance with established standard protocols and procedures.
- Assure controlled substance count and syringe count as required by standards and ensure accurate records are kept in accordance with identified protocols.
- Work in conjunction with other nurses from all shifts to communicate patient needs and improve patient care.
- Orient and train all new nursing personnel on unit/shift.
- Attend morning stand-up calls.
- Meet with other team members and participate in developing nursing care plans for each individual patient to best meet the needs of the patient.
- Sign off on required documentation, i.e., Recovery Care Plan and Treatment Plan Reviews, and other documentation as required per compliance.
- Arrange for adequate staffing on unit/shift.
- Lead or co-lead client groups, as required.
- Work with patients on an individual and group basis by providing instruction to facilitate the independent management of their personal hygiene and health needs.
- Assure compliance with all governing regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Respond to all emergencies and provide direct patient care in a professional, skilled manner.
- In conjunction with the Nursing Supervisor, conduct monthly meetings, and disseminate all necessary information to staff.
- Assess the individual educational needs of the staff and take opportunities as available to educate staff to promote improved patient care.
- Participate in the evaluation of staff performance and provide assistance and education, as needed, to assist them in providing high-quality, individualized nursing care.
- Demonstrate responsibility regarding punctuality and attendance to assure staff is available to provide patient care.
- Attend mandatory trainings to update knowledge base and enhance both professional and personal growth.
- Provide instruction to other nursing staff by example and explanation to ensure quality care to patients and to maintain professional standards of nursing.
- Report to Infection Control entities, as needed.
- Assist in developing nursing and medication records on each patient.
- Assist in the preparation and drafting of relevant trainings and training materials.
- Assist in monitoring inventory, ordering of medications, and equipment needed for daily operation of the unit in collaboration with the pharmacy.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate medication and equipment inventory logs daily.
- Current NY State Board of Nursing License and Registration.
- Current basic life support for health provider (BLS) and CPR/First Aid and AED.
- Knowledge of Substance Abuse Treatment.
- At least two (2) years of experience working in substance abuse treatment.
