Assistant Professor of Statistical and Data Sciences

Smith College is seeking a talented and dedicated individual to join its faculty as an Assistant Professor of Statistical and Data Sciences. This tenure-track position offers a unique opportunity to engage with students across the liberal arts and contribute to the development of the Data Sciences Program.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for teaching introductory, intermediate, and advanced courses across the data science and statistics curriculum, including topics such as data ethics and social justice, machine learning, and responsible and equitable AI. The candidate should have a strong foundation in data ethics, AI ethics, machine bias and discrimination, algorithmic fairness and accountability, or AI auditing and social impact assessments, along with a track record of publishing on one or more of these topics.
RequirementsA Ph.D. in data science, information science, computer science, sociology, statistics, biostatistics, or a related field is expected by the time of appointment. Candidates from groups underrepresented in STEM are encouraged to apply.
