Job Summary

Operate school buses safely and efficiently under various weather conditions, transporting students and authorized personnel to and from school on regular, special education, and Magnet routes. Make extracurricular trips as authorized by the local school system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the vehicle in a safe and efficient manner on a prescribed route.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections of the vehicle and any special equipment.
  • Maintain orderly conduct of student passengers.
  • Report unsafe acts or conditions requiring attention from other personnel.
  • Operate the vehicle in accordance with state laws and local school policies.
  • Provide maximum safety for passengers while on the bus and during loading/unloading.
  • Maintain routes and schedules as planned by local school personnel.
  • Deliver the bus to the vehicle maintenance facility as directed.
  • Conduct emergency evacuation drills as required.
  • Complete required reports in a prescribed manner.
  • Keep the assigned bus clean and sanitary at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with school staff and the public.
  • Attend all safety meetings.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the appropriate administrator.
Requirements
  • Valid CDL B with Passenger, Air Brake, and School Bus endorsements.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical.
  • Annual physical examination with result clearance.
  • Successful completion of the abbreviated Bus Driver Training Program provided by Fulton County Schools Transportation Department.
  • Minimum of 2 years driving experience with an exemplary driving record.
Working Conditions

Extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, wet, and/or humid conditions. Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. Risk of electrical shock.

Physical Demands

Sitting for prolonged periods. Lifting, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching. Upper and lower body mobility. Ability to lift equipment and/or students weighing 40 pounds.
