F/A-18 Structures Mechanic Job Description

Boeing is seeking an experienced F/A-18 Structures Mechanic to join their team in San Antonio, Texas. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) business organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain, repair, and modify aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty.
  • Repair and maintain aircraft components, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
  • Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions.
  • Restore equipment condition and operation using required expertise.
  • Solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation, such as blueprints or manufacturers' manuals.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience working as an aircraft mechanic.
  • 5+ years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to work any shift.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with F/A-18/Fighter or Depot Level/Heavy Structures maintenance.
  • Knowledge of blueprints, engineering drawings, service bulletins, work orders, and aircraft TO's (Tech Orders).
  • Ability to identify and remove damaged screws without damaging surrounding structure.
  • Close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation skills for critical support structures and fracture critical areas.
  • Familiarity with multiple materials, such as titanium and composites.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, mobile crane, and riding type electric powered elevating equipment.
  • Familiarity with Hazardous and Lock Out Tag Out systems applications.
Additional Information:

This position requires the ability to pass an assessment during the training cycle. The position also requires compliance to SA Site Tool and FOD procedure.
