Job Description:

Promoting dental health is at the forefront of this role. Responsibilities include completing dental prophylaxis, providing oral cancer screening and radiographic studies, charting conditions of decay and disease, and performing procedures in compliance with the Dental Practice Act.

In preparation for treatment, patients are welcomed, seated, and draped. Information is provided to patients and employees by answering questions and requests. Instrumentation is maintained for dental hygiene treatment by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting instruments.

Dental hygiene visits involve selecting materials and equipment based on patients' oral health. Prophylaxis is completed by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and beneath gum margins. Disease detection involves oral cancer screening, feeling and visually examining gums, using probes to locate periodontal disease, and assessing levels of recession.

Radiographic studies are exposed and developed to arrest dental decay by applying fluorides and other cavity-preventing agents.

Requirements:
  • An active dental hygiene license in OH
  • Knowledge of dental procedures and terminology
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Excellent communication skills to educate patients on oral health care practice

Salary:

The estimated salary for this role is $45.00 - $70.00/hour based on location and experience.
