Position Summary:

Clara Maass Medical Center is in search of a committed Clinical Nurse Specialist for our Intensive Care Unit. Our facility is dedicated to providing exceptional medical care through a collaborative team of healthcare professionals. We are equipped with a modernized facility that includes a state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit designed to cater to a diverse range of medical needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Lactation Consultant
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Demonstrated compassionate care and support for patients
  • Proficient in computer applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • Experience in maternal and infant care, including postpartum and women's health

Mandatory Certifications and Licenses:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from a recognized organization
  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification

Work Schedule:

  • Part-Time, Day Shifts
  • Flexible scheduling options available
  • Weekend shifts required

Key Responsibilities:

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will:

  • Provide education and support regarding breastfeeding to new parents
  • Serve as a consultant for parents in the postpartum unit
  • Conduct follow-up consultations with parents as necessary
  • Participate in the training of nursing staff on breastfeeding practices
  • Develop and implement policies and standards of care based on evidence-based practices and current research
  • Review and update educational materials for parents concerning breastfeeding
  • Engage in community and consortium activities related to breastfeeding
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards as applicable
  • Maintain logs and prepare reports as required
  • Actively contribute to patient satisfaction initiatives focused on breastfeeding
  • Assess the educational needs of parents regarding breastfeeding
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to address family needs
  • Encourage unrestricted breastfeeding practices
  • Evaluate breastfeeding effectiveness and identify any maternal or infant risk factors
