Position Overview:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, within the Surgery Integrated Clinical Community (ICC), is responsible for delivering nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with diverse physical, mental, and psychological needs through the application of practical nursing expertise.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Execute assigned nursing duties while providing care to a varied patient demographic.
2. Collaborate with registered nurses (RNs) and healthcare providers to mentor and train less experienced LPNs and Nursing Assistants (NAs) in adherence to established standards of practice, ensuring optimal patient care delivery.
3. Assess and respond to patient care requirements based on individual conditions, utilizing sound judgment in determining the order and sequence of treatments and procedures.
4. Maintain accurate documentation of patient information and care delivered, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.

Patient Interaction:
Engage effectively with patients and their families, providing education regarding disease processes, medications, and treatment plans in collaboration with the healthcare team. Recognize and address the emotional, cultural, and socio-economic factors influencing patient care.

Emergency Response:
Identify urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance from RNs or providers, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as necessary.

Work Environment:
This role involves coordination of provider schedules to maximize clinic efficiency and may require floating to various surgical specialty clinics as needed.
