Job Overview

The EHS Compliance Manager at Genesis Custom Blending plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and regulatory adherence of our operations and personnel. Reporting directly to the President, this position is pivotal in the formulation and execution of our site security and environmental responsibility initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The EHS Compliance Manager will:

  • Oversee compliance with various regulatory agencies and standards, crafting detailed procedures to ensure adherence:
    • TCEQ and EPA - Manage air permitting, STEERS Tier II reporting, waste management, stormwater compliance, and Risk Management Plans.
    • DHS - Verify material CAS#s against the COI list, create a site security plan, and conduct audits.
    • OSHA - Ensure compliance with hot work, confined space regulations, working at heights, Lockout/Tagout, Process Safety Management, and hazardous communication standards.
    • DEA - Review materials against precursor lists and develop necessary programs.
    • DOT - Establish protocols for labeling, loading, and container management.
    • Department of Agriculture - Supervise scale calibration compliance and participate in audits.
    • Maintain IFF/EPA registrations for biocides and manage propane bottle and tank compliance with the Railroad Commission.
  • Conduct regular audits of production, shipping, and maintenance operations to ensure adherence to safety practices and documentation.
  • Implement a waste management and minimization program, collaborating with third-party resources for waste profiling and disposal arrangements.
  • Review building and fire code requirements and conduct necessary audits.
  • Lead a Safety Committee, organizing meetings, setting agendas, and tracking action items.
  • Develop and implement programs to prepare for security threats and natural disasters.
  • Ensure the functionality of fire and security alarm systems, conducting periodic tests and evacuation drills in coordination with local emergency services.
  • Manage the Drug and Alcohol program effectively.
  • Conduct Process Hazard Analyses for new operations, identifying hazards and outlining preventive measures.
  • Complete incident reports, participate in root cause analysis, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and tracked for effectiveness.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in technology and equipment used for environmental inspections.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience is preferred.
