Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Warehouse/Sales Associate to join our team at our ReStore in Herndon, Virginia. As a key member of our ReStore team, you will be responsible for maximizing sales, providing excellent customer service, and assisting donors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with donors and customers in a helpful and respectful manner, demonstrating a positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrate understanding of safety protocols and procedures for all staff assignments, as well as the loading, unloading, and organization of merchandise.
  • Process customer financial transactions through the register, ensuring integrity and accuracy while following established procedures.
  • Communicate with the Donations Coordinator to screen donations for acceptability, following established guidelines.
  • Perform daily cleaning and organization of all areas, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for customers and staff.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Habitat staff, volunteers, and homeowners, as well as ReStore customers and donors.
  • Oversee volunteers as needed, ensuring their experience is meaningful and engaging.
  • Answer telephone calls and provide ReStore information, meeting the caller's needs.
  • Operate a forklift and scissor lift as needed.
  • Participate in store meetings and training sessions as required by the ReStore Manager.
Requirements
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse groups of people.
  • Knowledge and experience in retail sales, with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Ability to spend the majority of the day standing or moving about the ReStore, with occasional climbing, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Ability to accurately operate a cash register and office equipment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older, with the ability to safely lift and position up to 50 pounds.
  • Familiarity with and commitment to Habitat's mission, methods, principles, and structure.
  • Ability to work some Saturdays.
  • Must pass a Criminal Background Check and Sexual Offender Check.
  • Must be able to show proof of current and updated Covid-19 vaccination status and be willing to comply with all other CDC guidelines.
