Job Summary

The Behavioral Health ED Technician plays a vital role in providing patient care and operational support for patients in the Emergency Department (ED) Behavioral Health Zone. This position requires excellent communication skills, the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with patient care activities under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, including performing activities of daily living (ADLs), obtaining clinical data, and utilizing universal precautions.
  • Apply splints and immobilizers, remove IVs after completion of competencies, and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Restock patient rooms, supply carts, and equipment units, and assist visitors, volunteers, and patient family/friends.
  • Mentor new coworkers to the unit and assist in monitoring and/or caring for patients who require close observation.
  • Perform clerical functions, including answering phones, faxing, and managing critical communication, and prioritize and multitask during periods of high stress.
  • Manage patient health information and electronic medical records.
Qualifications
  • A high school graduate or equivalent is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team in a chaotic environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and keyboarding skills.
  • Required licensure/certifications include National Registered (EMT) Emergency Medical Technician with a New Hampshire Providers License from the New Hampshire Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (NHBEMS) or Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) in the State of New Hampshire, Basic Life Support (current), and Management of Aggressive Behaviors (MOAB) required within 6 months of hire.
