Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate individual to operate MRI equipment independently, maintain optimal patient care, and work with patients of all ages. As an MRI Imaging Specialist, you will be responsible for screening all patients and staff entering into zones 3 and 4 to ensure magnet safety.

Essential Functions

  • You will perform all procedures proficiently and strive to maintain high quality, including proper positioning, choosing appropriate coils, and thorough knowledge of scanning protocols.
  • Imaging studies must be completed in a timely manner, charged appropriately, and then taken to the radiologist for interpretation as soon as possible after the completion of the exam.
  • You will identify patients using two patient identifiers, communicate with patients and/or medical staff concerning MR safety questionnaires and other pertinent clinical history, and obtain completed questionnaires and proper history to ensure magnet safety for patients entering the department.
  • You will also communicate with appropriate medical staff any sedation needs of the patient, inform patients and families of delays, prepare scan rooms for procedures using approved cleaning protocols, and appropriately discard sharps and maintain a suitable level of supplies and linen in rooms.
  • As an MRI Imaging Specialist, you will properly prepare and administer contrast materials associated with MRI procedures that are within the scope of practice as prescribed by a physician or in approved Radiology protocols.
  • You will implement emergency procedures as needed, perform department and hospital-related computer functions pertinent to the job, enter and record all data accurately and promptly, and exhibit competency in performing quality control tasks associated with equipment and procedures to ensure standards are met.
  • You will also stay abreast of organizational, affiliate, and departmental changes/updates by checking email on each shift, provide clinical instruction to staff technologists and students, and prepare staff schedules to ensure the department is staffed properly and coordinate daily workflow.
  • In this role, you will perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

  • You must have a Certification Program graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • No experience is required.

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

  • ARRT registered in Radiology OR MRI; OR ARMRIT-American Registry of MRI certification.
  • BLS certified.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year

Work Shift: Variable (United States of America)
