Cafeteria Worker

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented General Cafeteria Worker to join our team at the Passaic Board of Education. As a key member of our food services team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

• Prepare, cook, and serve food to students, staff, and visitors in a safe and sanitary manner.
• Operate food preparation equipment, including steam cookers, gas and electric ranges, baking ovens, mixers, and washing equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to health and sanitation rules.
• Assist with meal accountability and point-of-sale operations during breakfast and lunch periods.
• Participate in in-service and workshop programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Display excellent communication, collaboration, and organization skills to work effectively with students, staff, and administration.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent integrity and moral character.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with diverse groups.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods in a hot kitchen environment.

This is a non-tenurable position with contract terms, salary, and benefits established by the collective bargaining agreement. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal history background check and provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
