FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt; Hourly Employee

DEPARTMENT: Deli

OBJECTIVE: The Bakery Team Leader is accountable for the development of bakery recipes, overseeing bakery production, participating in inventory management, and leading and training bakery personnel. This role emphasizes exceptional customer service, quality product creation, maintaining a clean and well-stocked department, and fostering a positive leadership presence within the Deli Department team.

ALL CO-OP STAFF WILL:

  • Utilize all available resources to deliver outstanding and knowledgeable customer service to customers, colleagues, and vendors.
  • Engage in professional and respectful communication with everyone encountered during work hours.
  • Comply with all store and department policies and procedures.
  • Exhibit regular and predictable attendance.
  • Participate in scheduled huddles and meetings.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.

BAKERY TEAM LEADERS WILL:

  • Collaborate with deli leadership to establish and execute a vision for the cooperative bakery.
  • Create and implement high-quality recipes for pastries and baked goods that accommodate various dietary needs, including vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and low-sugar options.
  • Establish quality control standards for bakery products.
  • Coordinate and engage in the production and packaging of bakery items.
  • Manage product orders, including placement, receipt, and storage as directed.
  • Participate in departmental inventory processes.
  • Ensure the department is fully stocked and maintained in a clean condition.
  • Adhere to cooperative safety protocols and food safety regulations.
  • Complete tasks assigned by the department manager and kitchen supervisor.
  • Stay informed about current bakery trends.
  • THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
  • A passion for baking, natural foods, and cooperative principles.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities.
  • The capability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to take initiative while prioritizing tasks.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional baking experience.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Experience in leading and/or training team members in a work setting.
  • A solution-oriented mindset when addressing challenges in supply chain, production, and personnel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, and rotating motions.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 60 pounds regularly during a shift.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezers, outdoors, etc.).
  • Repetitive hand movements for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
