Early Childhood Educator

We are seeking dedicated professionals to lead early learning programs at our Capital District YMCA daycare center. These roles support the work of the Y, a leading charity committed to strengthening our community. The successful candidates will create a positive learning environment, nurture relationships, and support the potential of all children at our site as part of the overall daycare experience.

• Lead Teacher - $18.94 per hour
• Assistant Teacher - $15.90 per hour
• Daycare Aide - $15.00 per hour

• AAS in Child Development, Elementary Ed., Physical Ed., Recreation, or related field with no prior experience, or Child Development Associate Credential with one year of prior experience, or 9 college credits in Child Development, Elementary Ed., Physical Ed., Recreation, or related field with two years of direct experience working with children under 13.
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
• Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
• Previous experience with diverse populations and ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

• Must be 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Two years of direct experience with children under 13 required.

• Must be 16 years of age.
• HS Diploma/GED or one year of experience working with children under 13.

All daycare positions require the following:

• Day 1 of Employment: Completed Physical and TB Test (within the last year)
• Day 30 of Employment: Completed CPR, AED, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens, and Child Abuse Prevention
• Day 90 of Employment: Completed New Employee Orientation, Sexual Harassment, NYS OCFS Health & Safety, and ALICE (Active Shooter)
• Day 180 of Employment: Completed 15 hours of childcare-related training (then 15 hours annually)
