The CMM Operator plays a crucial role in the inspection and processing of tools, components, and parts throughout the manufacturing process. This position ensures that all standards set by the company and our clients are consistently met.


The CMM Operator will collaborate with the data transfer team to obtain necessary CAD data for comparison and will communicate with various manufacturing personnel, including Plant Foremen and Tool Makers, to gather the required components for inspection.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting technical layouts of fixtures, jigs, molds, and parts using existing CMM programs and setups.
  • Creating and modifying CMM programs and calibrating new probes as needed.
  • Utilizing precision measuring tools such as height gauges, micrometers, calipers, and gage blocks in a controlled setting.
  • Accessing jobs and inspection requirements through an electronic work request system.
  • Engaging in discussions regarding measurement outcomes with builders, management, and clients.
  • Performing layout requests independently as specified in the work request system.
  • Ensuring that all tools and inspection equipment are calibrated and in proper working order.
  • Operating both manual and automated CMM machines.
  • Using CAD software for minor operations as required.
  • Completing additional quality-related tasks as assigned by the Plant Foreman.
  • Calibrating gauges and hand measuring instruments.
  • Adhering to safety and health regulations as outlined by the company.
  • Following procedures documented in the Quality Manual.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Preferred experience of 2+ years in CMM programming.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Work Environment:

This position is situated in a manufacturing office environment with regular exposure to production areas. Safety equipment such as shoes, glasses, gloves, and hard hats may be required as per company policy. The role may involve standing or walking for extended periods.
