We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at the State of North Carolina. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing occupational therapy evaluations and treatment to children and their families.

Job Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to provide occupational therapy services to children birth to three years old, including evaluations and treatment to determine eligibility for the Infant-Toddler Program. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess child and family needs for early intervention supports and services, including evaluation for appropriate adaptive equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide occupational therapy evaluations and treatment to children birth to three years old
  • Conduct developmental evaluations to determine eligibility for the Infant-Toddler Program
  • Assess child and family needs for early intervention supports and services
  • Evaluate for appropriate adaptive equipment
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive services to children and their families
Requirements
  • Licensed to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the State of North Carolina
  • Considerable knowledge of occupational therapy principles, techniques, methods, and modalities
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and conduct training and in-service education for staff and private contract providers
  • Ability to prepare and evaluate reports, including medical, social, and departmental records
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, clients' families, medical personnel, and other service providers
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of sensory processing disorders
  • Knowledge of autism criteria
  • Knowledge of adaptive equipment and assistive technology
  • Ability to assess oral motor skills and the function of the oral mechanism in terms of feeding
