Endoscopy Nurse Specialist

As a Registered Nurse Endoscopy, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients. Your expertise in perioperative care will be essential in developing individualized patient plans and implementing evidence-based practices to achieve optimal outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized perioperative patient plans, incorporating evidence-based practices and protocols to ensure safe and effective care.
- Protect patients from injury by identifying and mitigating potential hazards, and adhering to standard precautions and infection control measures.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
- Administer medications safely and correctly, using the 8 rights of medication administration to prevent errors.
- Monitor patient status and intervene as necessary to maintain tissue perfusion, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems, and fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances.
- Assess patient knowledge and provide education on expected psychosocial responses, nutritional management, medication management, pain management, and expected responses to the procedure.
- Involve patients and families in decision-making and care planning, promoting autonomy and empowerment.
- Document patient care accurately, timely, and completely, using standardized templates and electronic health records.
- Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects, contributing to the development of evidence-based practices and protocols.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- One year of GI, OR, and/or medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
- Current state nursing licensure to practice in good standing.
- Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification.
- Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification.
- Successful completion of Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) course is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope of services within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification.
- Specialty certification in GI Nursing is preferred.
