Job Summary

VCU Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist PRN to join our team at VCU Tappahannock Hospital in the Middle Peninsula region of Virginia. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our patients, ensuring they receive comprehensive evaluations, treatment planning, and discharge planning.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of referred patients and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide discharge planning, patient/family education, and recommendations for follow-up care.
  • Accurately document evaluation results and services provided, adhering to hospital and department guidelines for documentation.
  • Participate as a member of both self-directed departmental and interdisciplinary patient care teams, engaging in interdisciplinary rounds and contributing to goal setting for routine diagnoses.
  • Provide clinical instruction to OT and OTA students, offer training and education to department and hospital staff, and supervise Rehab Technicians, COTA staff, volunteers, and students during clinical rotations.
Requirements
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in Virginia.
  • CPR Certification if required by the clinic or practice area.
  • New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Prior experience in a similar healthcare facility is preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy.
  • Master's or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Occupational Therapy is preferred.
Work Environment

As an Occupational Therapist at VCU Health, you will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with interdisciplinary teams and self-directed work teams. You will be required to handle multiple priorities, adapt to frequent change, and provide excellent customer service to patients and families.

The physical demands of this role include frequent bending, walking, climbing, reaching, and lifting. You will also be required to work in a noisy environment and be able to handle intense customer interactions.
