Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team at St. Joseph Hospital - Nashua, NH. As a Phlebotomy Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services by collecting and processing clinical specimens for testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood and other clinical specimens from patients using established protocols and procedures.
  • Verify patient identification and ensure accurate labeling and handling of specimens.
  • Operate laboratory information systems to enter and retrieve patient data, and to order laboratory tests.
  • Perform administrative and clerical tasks, such as registering patients, maintaining patient records, and sending reports to physicians.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and other laboratory staff to ensure timely and accurate collection and processing of specimens.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of laboratory procedures, policies, and protocols to ensure accurate and efficient specimen collection and processing.
Requirements
  • National certification (ASCP or equivalent) in Phlebotomy is preferred but not required.
  • 6 months experience in phlebotomy preferred.
  • Training in an approved school or program of phlebotomy is desired, but on-the-job training and experience will be evaluated through display of job knowledge and skills.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to perform a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Lifting/carrying frequently up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Some stress related to high level of responsibility for quality care.
