$72,748 - $88,504 annually.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Public Property Guardian to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for protecting public property against damage, theft and trespassing; enforcing security regulations governing the access to and use of public facilities; and performing related duties as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patrols and guards grounds, buildings; prevents theft, damage or misuse of city property.
  • Inspects buildings to assure they are properly secured; checks for fire hazards.
  • Apprehends persons engaged in acts of vandalism and theft; enforces security regulations.
  • May be required to wear a uniform and carry a weapon; may operate radio transmitting and receiving equipment.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • One (1) year of experience as a special police officer, security guard or other position involving the active safeguarding of life and property.
  • A valid California State Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

Selection Procedures

Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in a multiple choice exam designed to measure job-related knowledge and skills. A passing score must be achieved on the written examination in order to be ranked and placed on the eligible list.
