As a vital member of the Kaiser Permanente team, the Optometrist will work under the guidance of the Regional Chief of Optometry to assess and enhance patients' visual health. This role involves thorough examinations and the application of advanced optometric techniques to ensure optimal patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, taking into account the patient's medical history and current visual complaints.
- Evaluate ocular health and identify any signs of disease or abnormalities.
- Utilize a variety of optometric instruments to assess visual function and diagnose refractive errors.
- Prescribe corrective lenses and fit patients with contact lenses tailored to their specific needs.
- Provide low-vision aids and support for patients with visual impairments.
- Manage ocular emergencies and prescribe appropriate medications when necessary.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare providers for referrals and further treatment as required.
- Engage in departmental meetings and educational activities to promote continuous learning and peer collaboration.
- Demonstrate a commitment to exceptional service and adherence to Kaiser Permanente's standards of quality and ethics.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited institution and a valid Optometrist license in the State of Colorado.
- Certification in the use of diagnostic and therapeutic pharmaceutical agents is required.
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) and Taxonomy code must be obtained prior to employment.
Preferred Experience:
At least two years of clinical experience, with a preference for candidates who have completed an ocular disease residency.
