Psychiatric Technician

At Sparrow Health System, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Technician to join our team. As a Psychiatric Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals with mental health needs.

The Psychiatric Technician will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and will be responsible for assisting in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. This will include providing basic and technical care to patients, establishing and maintaining therapeutic relationships, and documenting patient care and responses.

• Provide basic and technical care to patients as directed by a RN.
• Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with individual patients.
• Document care given and patient response in patient record.
• Participate in structured patient activities and provide a safe and therapeutic milieu for patients.
• Communicate significant information and changes in inpatient condition to the RN.
• Provide education to patients and their families in coordination with the RN.
• Maintain hospital standards by participating in mandatory in-services and mandatory hospital departmental requirements.

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification within sixty (60) days of hire and maintain throughout employment.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification within thirty (30) days of hire or prior to completion of orientation and maintain throughout employment.
• Associate's Degree in a behavioral health or related field; OR High School Diploma or GED and minimum two (2) years of direct patient care experience.
