We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Surgical Services team at Ascension Health. As a First Assistant Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing direct assistance to surgeons during surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Position patients to provide optimal exposure for surgical procedures, utilizing stabilizing equipment when necessary to maximize patient comfort and safety.
- Implement physicians' orders to provide visualization of the operative site, using appropriate methods, including manipulation of tissue and materials, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.
- Utilize appropriate techniques to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
- Assist with body plane closure, application of wound dressings, and securing of drainage systems.
- Advanced Life Support certification obtained within 6 months of hire date or job transfer date required.
- BLS Provider certification obtained within 1 month of hire date or job transfer date required.
- Registered Nurse licensure from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing or current home state license if considered multi-state/Compact State required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification from the American Heart Association preferred.
- Certified Registered Nurse specializing in Operating Room or First Assistant certification from the Competency & Credentialing Institute preferred.
