Job Description

This role involves providing quality patient care through a team effort, working collaboratively with others to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality patient care by executing appropriate policies and procedures to ensure patient safety.
  • Support patients in pain management, utilizing pharmacological and non-pharmacological measures, and assist patients/families in identifying individualized comfort measures.
  • Follow up on internal resources to determine the outcome of interventions completed by other departments.
  • Mobilize resources to maximize patients' control and participation over their recovery.
  • Provide information and interpretation of patients' conditions, offering coping mechanisms to both patients and families.
  • Assess patients' needs and preferences, utilizing vocabulary and approach that enables successful processing of care and treatment.
  • Formulate and document discharge plans to maximize patients' ability to continue meaningful life activities.
  • Anticipate patients' needs, ensuring handoff communication and including reports on situations most likely to develop and problems awaiting patients.
  • Identify issues related to patient education for medication management, providing discharge planning instructions on discharge medications.
  • Modify patient care regimens using discretionary judgment, facilitating appropriate responses from other healthcare team members.
  • Explore multiple aspects of care regimens with case managers and healthcare providers to promote resolution.
  • Develop a plan to adjust staffing patterns as needed, attending educational sessions to improve one's ability to assess departmental needs.

Educational Requirements and Training

Education: Associate's degree or graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

Experience: Registered Nurse experience required.

Certifications and Credentials:

AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider, Registered Nurse – NJ or Registered Nurse – NLC multi-state

Trauma-related Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) contact hours annually if assigned to: RMC ICU/CCU, RMC Surgical Trauma Unit, RMC PACU, Emergency Department (all campuses)

NIH Stroke Scale Certification (or must obtain by end of orientation) AND 8 hours of Stroke-related CNE contact hours annually if assigned to: Critical Care, Intermediate Care Unit, Emergency Department, Neuro Units, Cardiology Inpatient at Hopewell, Peds ED, PACU, Interventional Radiology, CNI, Observation

CPR Requirements

  • ACLS (or must obtain within 6 months of hire date) if assigned to: Critical Care/Intermediate/Telemetry, Emergency Rooms, Pediatrics/Pediatrics Emergency Room, Labor & Delivery, Surgical Services (not to include Perioperative), Interventional Procedures, Observation.
  • NRP (or must obtain within 6 months of hire date) if assigned to: Maternity Services, Emergency Room RMC/Deborah
  • PALS (or must obtain within 6 months of hire date) if assigned to: Emergency Rooms, Infant Follow-Up, Surgical Services (only PACU & Same Day Surgery), Pediatrics/Pediatric ED. ENPC accepted in lieu of PALs for Adult Emergency Room
