Rapid City, SD

Duration:
13 weeks

Overview:
This role requires a dedicated ICU Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care in a float pool capacity, adapting to various units as needed.

Facility Information:
Beds:
The hospital has a total of 270 beds, with this position involving floating across different units.

Experience Requirements:
1.5 years of general nursing experience is essential. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is mandatory. Candidates must possess ICU-level qualifications and be open to floating to MedSurg/Tele units.

Patient Demographics:
This position involves working with a diverse patient population across multiple units, including:
- Orthopedics
- Neurology (Stroke, Transient Ischemic Attack)
- Surgical cases
- Medical conditions (e.g., Urinary Tract Infections, Pneumonia)
- Intermediate Care (e.g., Sepsis, Diabetic Ketoacidosis)
- Oncology
- Heart and Vascular cases (e.g., Chest Pain, Heart Failure)

Patient Ratios:
RN: 1:4-5

Certifications Required:
RN:
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Educational Requirements:
Completion of an accredited nursing program and licensure as a Registered Nurse in South Dakota is required. A BSN is necessary.

Essential Skills:
ICU-level nursing skills are required, with the ability to float to Med/Tele units. Familiarity with titration of various drips is essential, and candidates should be comfortable with:
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- IV starts and blood product administration
- Management of drains and tubes
- Catheter insertion and management
- Continuous bladder irrigation
- Chest tube maintenance

Unit Support:
CNA:
Available on all units, with varying ratios.
Charge Nurse:
Dedicated to each unit, including one for the Float Pool.
Phlebotomy: Available 24/7

Charting and Equipment:
Utilization of Epic for charting; familiarity with Omnicell and Alaris IV pumps is beneficial.

Floating Details:
This role involves regular floating between various units, including ICU, Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Medical, Progressive Care Unit, Oncology, and Heart and Vascular. Floating will occur within the scope of practice and may include intermediate to MedSurg level patient types.
