Job Title: Driver Helper

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Driver Helper to join our team at Schillings in Saint John, IN. As a Driver Helper, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our logistics and transportation services.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct daily vehicle and equipment inspections to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Inform the Logistics Manager of any required maintenance to trucks, forklifts, or other related equipment.
  • Keep equipment clean and organized to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Load trucks according to sales orders and ensure each load is properly secured.
  • Physically assist drivers in unloading materials to customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate with the Logistics Manager to ensure all tasks are completed.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Regularly lift, carry, and move up to 50lbs, and occasionally lift up to 80lbs.
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, bend, reach, grip, push, pull, lift, climb, carry, and walk throughout the Yard/Warehouses.
  • Safely operate all equipment, including sweepers, skid steers, order pickers, forklifts, pickup trucks, flatbeds, box trucks, vans, and SUVs.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Effectively communicate information to customers, management, and other team members through radios or in person.
  • Recognize and distinguish safety alarms and alert signals.
  • Identify, recognize, and respond to any safety/hazardous situations.
  • Assist customers with a smile, including moving swiftly to waiting customers across the Yard/Warehouses.
  • Organizational skills, basic math, and ability to read a tape measure.
  • Composite/steel toe shoes required (annual boot reimbursement provided).
