Job Summary
Northwell Health is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team. As an Ultrasound Technologist, you will be responsible for performing ultrasound exams to aid in patient diagnosis. You will utilize independent judgment in the application of non-ionizing, high frequency ultrasonic waves for diagnosis of disease.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for ultrasound exams, positioning them on examination tables according to departmental standard operating procedures.
- Explain procedures in layman's terms to relieve patient anxiety.
- Obtain pertinent imaging and diagnostic reports required for correlation with ultrasound exams.
- Consult with referring physicians regarding patient history and determine appropriate ultrasound exams.
- Set up equipment to administer particular exams in a timely fashion, using technical judgment.
- Perform ultrasound procedures, recognizing significance of structures visualized in the oscilloscope and differentiating artifacts from normal or pathologic processes.
- Document image details and labels studies, maintaining records and logs of exams performed.
Requirements
- Vocational or technical school diploma required.
- One of the following credentials required: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS).
- 1-3 years of technical experience required.
Salary Information
The salary range for this position is $82,500-$136,340/year.
